Blogging is a great way for students to put themselves out there.
As a student journalist, the future prospects of online journalism can be a bit daunting. Many have claimed that journalism is a dying art, losing its relevance in the digital age. So, the only feasible solution to this modern problem is to find a modern solution, as Dave Chapelle says.
One such solution is blogging. I have found blogging, not only to be a great outlet, but also a great way to set yourself apart from the billions of internet users across the globe. As a student in this field, the prospect of your field being a dying art can be quite disheartening, so any solutions which present themselves should be hopped on immediately!
Blogging is a great way for a student journalist to start their career ahead of time before you’ve even completed your course. If you are interested in freelancing a blog can be a sort of portfolio of all of your pieces. A future employer may gaze upon your blog and actually find your content worthwhile and worthy of employment. Not to mention that a great blog helps you stand out among all of the other young hopeful journalists in the job market.
If you are interested in any type of niche subjects in journalism, a blog would be a great way to report on those topics. It also happens to be a great way to express yourself through writing, whether it is journalism-related or not. In conclusion, you should probably start a blog.
